PHA Renews Partnerships With Four Charitable Organizations
From time to time I like to keep you up to date on our donations to various nonprofit organizations.
Your purchases of Patriot Health Alliance products are what make these donations possible. So, we consider you a partner in this effort.
And a partner has a right to know where their money is going.
Heading into March 2021, the Patriot Health Alliance and our affiliated brands have donated $402,955 to worthy organizations. And the number keeps growing.
Perseverance Through the Pandemic
The latest news is that we’ve renewed our annual partnerships with three organizations – Fisher House Foundation, Hire Heroes USA and Pets for Vets.
And we’ve added a regular financial donation to the product donations we make to For the Troops.
Despite all the challenges and chaos of 2020, these organizations kept their momentum and continued to serve countless Americans in need.
Please stay tuned for updates on the life-changing efforts these organizations conduct throughout the rest of 2021. Let’s take a quick look at each one, in no particular order.
In 2020, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pets for Vets® matched 25 veterans with their highly trained A.C.E™ companion animals.
With the help of sponsors such as Patriot Health Alliance, they were also able to provide additional support to many of their previously matched veterans.
Pets For Vets connects our nation’s military veterans with rescued animals to create second chances and new beginnings. Many troops return from their service with physical and emotional injuries that make it difficult to transition back to civilian life.
Deserving shelter dogs receive a second chance while giving veterans a second chance at health and happiness. Pets For Vets has made 600 successful matches so far.
Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military and veterans families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital. The homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world.
The homes have up to 21 suites with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a dining room and a living room. Since its inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $525 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation.
Even with capacity restrictions due to the pandemic, 13,000 families stayed at Fisher Houses in 2020. Military and veteran families saved more than $25 million through Fisher House programs during the year. To keep families connected, the Foundation donated 236 Facebook Portal systems that served thousands of veterans at 113 medical facilities.
Fisher House also operates the Hero Miles program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members and the Hotels for Heroes program, using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels when a Fisher House isn’t available.
For the Troops is a grassroots, 100 percent volunteer-run nonprofit corporation that sends “We Care” packages to our deployed American heroes overseas.
Even with COVID-19 paring down the shipping, the organization still was able to send out 10,000 “We Care” packages.
One veteran sent an email to For the Troops saying, “This is the best care package I’ve received in over 20 years of military service. There’s literally nothing more I could ask for in a care package.”
A chaplain in Kuwait wrote, “I and our soldiers are so grateful for your ongoing support of us while we have been deployed. The supplies and goodies you’ve sent us have boosted the morale of soldiers in seven different countries in the Middle East.”
Hire Heroes USA believes that when heroes get hired, companies prosper and America gets stronger.
Each year the military discharges 270,000 service members. Approximately 80 percent of them do not have jobs lined up. And the unemployment rate for military spouses is four times greater than the national average.
Hire Heroes USA provides personalized career coaching, expert mentoring and job sourcing. The organization helps create professional resumes and teaches job search best practices.
Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic in 2020, Hire Heroes USA helped 18,441 veterans, service members and military spouses. A total of 11,580 found successful employment, bringing Hire Heroes USA’s total lifetime hires to 50,000.
By connecting with Hire Heroes USA, military personnel and spouses can get connected with career mentors and mock interviewers. They can learn effective job search networking and interviewing techniques. And receive career guidance from professionals in their desired field. Plus find career fairs and workshops.
We at the Patriot Health Alliance admire the tenacity and adaptability of these four organizations. We’re proud to continue to support their important work. And thanks to you for joining us on this journey!
