Take A Break

In honor of Labor Day, it's probably time to admit it: Life throws a lot of stuff at you.

Some is bad… some is good.

And some of it is just annoying, frustrating, or makes you feel like it's time to crawl back in bed.

Especially with everything going on in the world right now. It feels like things just keep getting crazier and crazier.

Around the office, we talk about seeing the "glass half full." Sounds like a cliché, but when you actually pay attention to it, it can be powerful.

For example, this Labor Day you could spend your free time watching the news or reading scary articles online…

Or you can spend the day doing what it was created for — resting!

That's glass half full.

Rest and sleep are way more important than we all want to think it is.

"I'll sleep when I'm dead." Heard that one before? Well, if you don't rest and get proper sleep… you'll be dead sooner than later.

So if you've found yourself "wound up" by the last few years… you're not alone.

But the time to realize you need a break may be right now. So take it! It's what the day was made for.

Look, I know I'm always pushing exercise, diet and all that jazz… but rest is just as important as those things. Maybe even more.

Think about it… If you're not rested you can't exercise. If you're tired you're going to grab junk food because it's quick and easy. (And delicious… I've been down that road if you can't tell, haha.)

Now on the other hand… I'm not telling you to ignore the world either. Putting your head in the sand is not a great long-term strategy… for anyone. But when bad things happen… it's ok to feel like you need to take a break. You're feeling that way for a reason. Because at that moment… it's the right thing to do.

Plus… when you're well rested and looking at the flip side, it makes the bad that much easier to "digest." And gets off your plate sooner than later too.

Enjoy the rest of your — restful — weekend.
