Do you drink enough… water?

Have you ever heard of the whole… you need to drink 8 glasses of water a day? It used to be the standard for everyone. But as time goes on, and as more and more research has been done on this topic… it turns out that’s not really necessary.

However, you can still hydrate the wrong way. And end up feeling worse. Or not feeling your best. Which no one wants.

So while you may want to throw the whole “I got to drink 8 glasses a day” out the window, you still need to make sure you’re staying hydrated… and here are 6 easy ways to do just that:

  1. Hydrate First Thing in the Morning & Before Eating

Hydrating first thing in the morning, afternoon, and evening is important. That way you don’t have to think about it throughout the day. Try to have about 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning and then 1 glass of water before every meal and… boom you’re done.

  1. End the Day With a Glass

Just like at the start of the day… end your day with a glass of water about 2 hours before bed. Any later may interfere with your sleep cycle and make you get up to go to the bathroom.

  1. Eat Your Water

This sounds a little weird, but fruits and vegetables have a high water content that will help you meet your daily quota. So in a way you could “eat your water too.” Most of us are not getting the right amount of fruits and veggies anyway… so with this approach you’re killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

  1. Experiment

If you think plain water is too plain, try experimenting with different temperatures and tastes. Try your water with ice, without ice, at room temperature, and flavored with slices of fruit. Some folks even use vegetables (cucumber slices), or herbs (fresh basil or ginger). It’s really up to you. Water doesn’t have to be plain. Unless you want it to be, that's fine too.

  1. Keep Track

You should keep a BPA-free water bottle within reach… at all times. Now I know you think that’s crazy, But how many of us have our phones right by our side 24/7? You should do the same with your water. You can even use the 2 together. There are apps that help you track how much you're drinking and help you stay on target.

  1. Let the Bottle Do the Work

Smart water bottles are the newest way to nudge you to drink. For instance, the bottles will track the amount of hydration you need, adjust based on your activity, and then glow when it’s time to drink. Pretty amazing! This is the newest (and coolest) way to meet your hydration goals.

Well, I hope these help. Bottoms up & cheers to your health.
