Sunday Thoughts (carpe diem)

I hope you are well.

But I’ve got to be honest with you…

I’m tired. I’ve been helping my son with some projects around his house.

It looks great! And I find the process to be very rewarding. It’s also a great way to spend quality time with my family. But what I don’t love — especially as I’ve aged — is the total “zap” of energy I feel the next day.

However, after a few “tired Sundays” I think I’ve pinpointed my problem.

It’s… all-day energy support (or lack thereof). Sounds generic… I know. But hear me out.

If you're tired a lot… you can try these simple tips to have more energy all day long. And the great thing is you can start a lot of these right now!

Music
I love this one. Research shows music can improve mood, which in turn may increase your energy levels.

Breathe

This one is amazing. Deep breathing exercises can relieve energy-draining anxiety and stress, and boost oxygen flow to your body.

Declutter

I didn’t know this… but excess clutter can put your senses in overdrive, which can sap energy.

Eat breakfast
It really is the most important meal of the day. A healthy breakfast sets up your blood sugar levels for success. A sugary breakfast means an energy crash is just hours away.

Eat Carbs
What??? Carbs get such a bad rap. But in reality, carbohydrates are our body’s preferred energy source. Just avoid the empty carbs, like white pasta or bread.

Hydrate
Dehydration can decrease your mental and physical performance. Try to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day.

Exercise
Seems like the opposite thing you should do if you want energy. But check this out… exercising increases your endorphin levels which in turn increases your energy levels.

Well, I hope this helps. Some of these I’m going to get started on right now. They're so simple… it would be silly not to. Plus, I’ve got a patio deck calling my name soon.

Have a great rest of your Sunday.
