Sunday Thoughts (changes)
Transitions are hard. For a lot of us, it means getting into a new routine. For others, it means getting back to the things we used to do. So as we move from Summer to Fall, I want to look at a couple of transitions we can make to keep our health up in this new season.
This Sunday, I'm thinking with my stomach first, so that's where we'll start. It turns out, we don't just change our diet for a new flavor palate. A lot of the foods we eat in the fall are actually great at helping our bodies adjust to the new temperatures. Hot cereals, warm stews & roasted vegetables are all great options to keep your health up to snuff. Not to mention a tasty change from our summer diets.
Another adjustment is how we take care of our body. And there are two ways I like to look at this: our muscles and our skin.
Let's start with muscles. Our bodies build up a lot of internal stress during times of change. And my favorite way to relieve it is with a massage. I talk about massage fairly often, and there's a reason for it. It's one of the most overlooked health tools we have. A good massage doesn't only feel good. It can boost your immune system and improve your circulation. So you can feel your best inside and out.
The other side of bodily care is our skin. Now, I'll be the first to say I don't use many skin care products. But with all the new dry air floating around, it's not a bad idea to add some moisture back into your skin.
And I want to end with my most important fall change: slowing down. Let's be real — we aren't spring chickens anymore. Sometimes, we need to spend some time going at a slower pace. You may want to go, but your body will thank you for it.
Take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
