Sunday Thoughts (naps)

These days, I leave my Sundays wide open.

Which has been great… because after the last few years… I’m exhausted by the end of the week.

So I spend Sundays relaxing.

Sitting on the porch, reading or watching football.

But my new favorite thing to do? I like to sneak in a nap.

Most folks think taking a nap means you're lazy or weak. Or you must have nothing better to do.

But it’s not true.

Would you consider our service members in the Army to be lazy or weak?

Of course not!

Check out what the Army’s manual says about naps…

“When regular nighttime sleep is not possible due to mission requirements, soldiers can use short, infrequent naps to restore wakefulness and promote performance. When routinely available sleep time is difficult to predict, soldiers might take the longest nap possible as frequently as time is available.”

That’s how important sleep is… our Heroes have made it a priority.

You should too.

Especially if you feel like your alertness starts to fade in the afternoon.

A quick nap can take care of that & so much more…

Studies have shown that naps help improve your…

  • Mood
  • Memory
  • Energy levels
  • Nighttime sleep (when you nap from 1 pm to 3pm)
  • And even boost your immunity

And you can get all of these great benefits in only 20 to 30 minutes. That’s it. Folks call that a “power nap.” I call it perfect. Because I always wake up refreshed & ready to go. And I haven’t even lost an hour of my day. It’s hard to beat that.

So if you find you want to rest your eyes this afternoon, don’t feel guilty about it. It’s not a luxury – it’s a tool for better mental & physical performance.

Now that I think about it. Maybe cats are on to something. They’re definitely too smart for their own good!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
