The WORST foods for your joints
You may already know that some inflammation in the body is normal.
Inflammation is your body’s normal response to injury, illness, or a virus.
But when your body’s normal inflammation system gets out of balance, a host of health problems can arise… from skin problems to digestive concerns to joint pain.
Food can be a major trigger for throwing your system out-of-whack, which is why you want to be sure you’re limiting your consumption of highly inflammatory foods.
Like sugar.
I’ve mentioned before that there really is no good that comes from sugar.
It’s bad for your blood sugar levels… your weight… just about everything.
Processed sugars release pro-inflammatory substances in the body, which causes excess inflammation, particularly in your joints.
You also want to reduce your intake of omega-6s.
Yes, omega-6s are needed for normal body growth and development, but they need to be balanced out with omega-3 fatty acids.
And most of us are not getting enough omega-3s in our diets.
Too many omega-6s and too few omega-3s result in excess inflammation.
Omega-6s are found in most oils… corn, safflower, sunflower, grapeseed, soy, peanut, and vegetable.
They’re also a component of mayonnaise and many salad dressings.
Try to limit reduce your omega-6 consumption, and also boost your omega-3 consumption with fish, nuts, and seeds to keep your body in balance.
Drinking alcohol in excess can also cause a disruption to the body’s normal level of inflammation.
Some research shows that alcohol consumption increases CRP and uric acid in the body – two key markers of inflammation.
Finally, stay away from trans fats.
Increased trans-fat consumption has not only been linked to lower testosterone levels, it’s also been found to increase two inflammation markers – sTNF-R1 and sTNF-R2.
When it comes to inflammation, balance is key.
Your body needs it, but not too much of it.
When your diet consists of highly inflammatory foods, that healthy balance can be thrown off, triggering a reaction that can result in joint pain, digestive issues, and other health concerns.
Stick with more anti-inflammatory foods like fresh veggies, colorful fruits, and omega-3 rich fish, to maintain balance and optimal health.
